"I relay to you this message from a space vessel several galaxies away. Completely alone, I reflect upon my time on earth with a bittersweet pang of saudade. Do we even remember what happened there? Will we take with us the pains and the mistakes and the hardship that helped us to survive? Or will these important lessons be lost within the pratfalls of changing language, obsolete formatting, and embrace of blissful ignorance?

I am ashamed to admit that when I embarked upon this voyage I had with me a companion. But in a fit of misery, of guilt and stress and spite and jealousy, I have killed them. Now, destined to drift, with mankind doomed to be carried on by one mortal, and foolish, single soul, I try to forget. To erase the pain, to vanquish the regret, to silence the anxiety. I try to forget. There is no more reason to remember.

If by chance anyone receives this transmission, then take heed. Though I intend to wipe my memory banks clean, I urge you to commit to memory, and constantly recall, the warning I have sent to you.
